Westernport Water wants your opinions

Westernport Water is conducting its annual customer satisfaction survey for two weeks.

By Susan Webster - 11th November 2008 - Back to News

An independent research firm will be contacting customers, chosen at random, for a simple 15 to 18-minute phone survey.

It will be the fifth annual survey of customers, and includes permanent and non-permanent residents. Last year’s survey quizzed 330 people.

Westernport Water’s Managing Director Murray Jackson said the survey was an invaluable guidepost to the corporation’s performance and the quality of its services. "The results help us to identify, understand and prioritise issues of importance to our customers," he said. "The survey also shows us where there is room for improvement. We are very service-driven and we need this information to benchmark our performance each year."

The survey tests the water corporation’s performance in terms of water supply and quality, wastewater and environment.

Last year’s survey showed that 88% of respondents said they were satisfied with the services provided by Westernport Water.

"The 2007 survey ranked the areas that people wanted us concentrate our efforts," Mr Jackson said. "These were, in order, responsiveness to community issues, pricing, environment and water quality.

"Throughout 2008 those were the areas into which we directed our energies. Security of supply has been a priority and we’ve introduced a new pricing structure that rewards low water-users. Our commitment to the environment has now become a fundamental in all our operations, along with our long-term major support of Landcare. And we believe customers will be starting to see the results of the increased investment we’ve made into improving the water quality."

The survey is completely anonymous. Mr Jackson said: "There is no cross-over of contact details between the survey company, Bartley Consulting, and Westernport Water. The survey complies with regulations under the Privacy Act and is modelled on similar phone surveys conducted by water corporations in many other regions."

Anyone with queries concerning the survey can contact Merryl Todd on 5956 4100 or freecall 1300 720 711.
