Workshop Promotes Vision For Local Communities

Local communities will be assisted to plan for their future at free workshops on Wednesday 14 March.

By Wellington Shire Council - 27th February 2007 - Back to News

The hands-on workshops organised by Wellington Shire Council will focus on producing community plans.

"Successful communities today benefit significantly from having a plan. These plans serve as a map for their future and help to communicate their needs and desires to different levels of government," said Cr Beth Ripper, Mayor of Wellington Shire Council.

"This is a great training opportunity for community members in Wellington. The skills and information covered in these workshops will also be valuable in a variety of other situations, including longer term planning for community groups" said Cr Ripper.

The workshops, part of the Community Representative Groups training provided by Wellington Shire Council, is open to anyone interested in planning for the future of their local community.

It will be a practical workshop, including an address from people who have previously been involved in producing successful community plans. A Department for Victorian Communities representative will also be in attendance to explain why Community Plans are important for the State Government.
