Upgraded Facilities At Orbost Bowls ClubOrbost Bowls Club members were delighted yesterday (Wednesday) to see the official opening of a new equipment shed and disabled toilet facilities at the club. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 22nd April 2004 - Back to News Funding for the $40,000 projects was assisted by East Gippsland Shire Council ($6,846) and the State Government’s Crown Land Reserves Improvement Program ($16,000).
Orbost Bowls Club contributed the remaining $17,154, along with considerable voluntary labour by several club members.
The new equipment shed and disabled toilets were constructed by local builders, P&C Herbert.
"Both facilities were much needed by the club and the Shire was pleased to be able to assist," said Shire Buildings Coordinator, Cam Gibbs.
"The equipment shed will provide a safer and bigger storage room for many of the sporting items and materials, while the disabled toilets will cater for the local and visiting disabled bowlers who attend and compete at the club.
"The completed projects are excellent and while the local builders did a fine job, I would also like to thank the many club members who contributed voluntary labour," Cam said.
Orbost Bowls Club President, Ron Parker, on behalf of the OBC Committee, said the new facilities will be a tremendous asset to the club.
"We’re very happy with the completed project and we would like to thank the Shire and Cam Gibbs for all his work on the project in the past two years," Ron said.
