Commercial Road Primary School Art ExhibitionA selection of art works from Commercial Road Primary School in Morwell is now on display as part of the Latrobe Performing Arts education exhibition program. By Latrobe City - 8th June 2012 - Back to News Lisa Tradford, Commercial Road Primary School’s art teacher said that this exhibition showcases a range of art works created by grade prep through to grade five students.
"The students experimented with a range of styles ranging from self-portraits, abstract art to drawing on the inspiration of the influential cartoonist Quentin Blake.
Exhibiting the students’ work at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre provides an opportunity for the children to have their work shown to the wider community. This opportunity has increased the students’ pride in their work and gives value to their achievements.
Latrobe Performing Arts and Venues Coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the school exhibitions at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre are an integral and popular component of the education program.
"It is such a highlight to see the excited faces of the students when they see their work framed and exhibited in the space. They learn more than just the application of styles, they are exposed to the world of art and exhibitions," Ms Roberts concluded.
The official opening will be held on Wednesday 6 June from 4.30 to 5.30pm. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome but please RSVP on 5176 3559. The exhibition continues until Wednesday 4 July and can be viewed Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.
