Member for Morwell Russell Northe said he was pleased to learn that the Victorian Governments Business Adaptation Grants program has been extended following the announcement of the most recent recipients which also included support for a Traralgon based business.

Mr Northe said, "It was terrific to see Village Dairy in Traralgon East receive a $76,000 grant under this program which will enable the company to adopt efficiencies by semi-automating its cheese packing process whilst enabling physical distancing measures between employees".

"It’s also pleasing to note that other Gippsland businesses in the agribusiness sector will have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Business Adaptation Grants program until the end of 2020" Mr Northe continued.

"Under this program, adaptation support is designed to assist eligible businesses to meet the costs of adapting workplaces to comply health, safety and social distancing requirements or adapting to required business changes imposed as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic" Mr Northe said.

Under Victoria’s Agriculture Workforce Plan, the Business Adaptation Grants program provides an opportunity for individual grants of between $10,000 and $300,000 that will support eligible businesses cover up to 50 per cent of the cost of necessary adaptations to their workplaces.

The Agriculture Workforce Plan is aimed at supporting businesses within the key agricultural and food processing industries meet their labour and operational needs during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As noted, applications for the Business Adaptation Grants have now been extended and are open until the end of 2020, to support Victorian agribusinesses through the summer harvest season.
