Evergreens Sing OnThe Evergreen Singers Annual Concert is being held on Sunday, 27 August 2006 at 1.30pm in the Cowes Senior Citizens Hall. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 17th August 2006 - Back to News The Evergreen Singers are members of the Evergreen Planned Activities Group, run by Bass Coast Shire Council.
During the year they perform at local hostels and nursing homes, says the group’s Musical Director, Judy Gittus.
"Most of our singers are over 80 years of age, but still enjoy singing together and sharing their singing with others.
"They rehearse once a week and perform two programs each year.
"The theme of this program is ‘Oceans and Streams’, music relating to the sea or a river," described Ms Gittus.
"We will also have three guest artists – Rosalie Coletta on alto saxophone, Anthony Coletta on piano and Nicholas Rowe on violin.
"A second program will also be prepared for the Christmas season later this year," Ms Gittus added.
The Concert will be held on Sunday 27 August at 1.30pm in the Cowes Senior Citizens Hall, Lions Court, Cowes. Parking is at the rear via Watchorn Road.
Tickets are available at the door for $5.00. A sumptuous afternoon tea, prepared by the volunteers who attend the Evergreens group each week, will be served following the show.
"Come and join us for a fun afternoon!" encouraged Ms Gittus.
