Morwell Tenpins NewsBy Morwell Tenpins - 9th June 2004 - Back to News Morwell Tenpins Juniors climbed into 2nd place on the ladder after last Weekend matches. Travelling to Rosebud Bowl Morwell Juniors finished 3rd and 4th repectively to jump into second place just ahead of Sale. Ten teams of five players competed at Rosebud for the second round to determine weekend winners and ladder positions. With three round of matches to be played, and the last round a home match, Morwell tenpin Juniors are in a very strong position to take overall honors from favourites Warragul and Narre Warren. Morwell took a chance this year in selecting some very young and in-experienced Juniors to represent them in the Goldpin Junior Challenge. Several bowlers could not make the trip to Rosebud, thereby creating some new opportunities for some of our Juniors. Bowling in her first representative team youngster Rachael Whitehead bowled her team into 3rd place, just missing 2nd place by several pins. Rachael, very nervous to start with bowled a high game of 189 which was 68 pins over her entering average. Rachael series of 437 scratch gave her a 145 average and a Handicap series of 674. Another newcomer Daniel Spence obviously liked the Rosebud lanes as he manged to bowl a 687 hcp series which gave Daniel a 139 average 29 pins over his entering average. The combination of experience and new talent helped lift Morwell Tenpins Juniors into second place overall. Other worthy efforts were Jonathan Hayes 653 series and Damien Smith 662. The next round of matches will be played at Narre Warren Bowl on Sunday 15th August.
