Dance With Me Keeps Up The Moves!

Following the success of the Valley’s biggest dance event at Kernot Hall in May, the Dance with me drummers and dance ambassadors are making some noise again to bring more dance and more music to our community.

Artistic director, Dan Clancey, said that to reflect the ongoing success and vibe of the project, the community is invited to join in some music, dance and a free sausage sizzle at Old Gippstown on Saturday 14 July from 10.30am.

"Steve Schulz of the Big Samba will be running a drum circle, and anyone can join in even if you don’t own a drum! You can also learn the dance at a workshop in the Mechanic’s Hall before we all get together for a Moe Special Drum and Dance at 11.30am.

"What better way to warm yourself up on a winter’s weekend than being active, having a boogie and learning to drum? And it doesn’t matter how old or young you are. This event is designed for everyone," Mr Clancey said.

Mr Clancey added that over the last seven months more than 2000 people had learnt the Dance with me dance.

"The project has certainly encouraged people to push out of their comfort zone and get into the spirit of being physically active whilst having a good laugh. All the dance events, from the flashmobs in Traralgon, Boolarra, Morwell and Yinnar to the big group dance at Kernot Hall, have been filmed. These films are currently being projected onto different buildings around Latrobe City. But don’t worry if you’ve missed out, you can view the films on youtube.com/dancewithmeproject.

"Together as a community we’ve united through movement. So now’s the time to bang your drum and get yourself to Old Gippstown to keep up the vibe," Mr Clancey concluded.
