The 2012 International Women’s Day luncheon hosted by Bass Coast Shire Council, features special guest speaker, Jo Ablett.

Tickets for the popular event go on sale Monday, 20 February 2012.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, said the event was shaping up to be more than just a lunch. "International Women’s Day (IWD), is a global event celebrated on 8 March. The lunch at Archie’s on the Creek includes a two course meal, glass of wine, tea and coffee.

"Each guest will receive a show bag kindly donated by local businesses and a chance to win prizes.

"The luncheon is a great networking opportunity for women and in past years tickets have sold out quickly for this event."

Guest speaker Jo Ablett will share her story about life as a counsellor, psychotherapist, artist and founder of Into Blue.
Jo started out teaching at Corinella Primary School when she moved there in 1977. She has built an amazing career over 30 years and now practises facilitated meditation and personal development, supporting children, adolescents and adults. In her spare time she is an artist who is inspired by her local beach at Ventnor.

Cr Dowman said that by securing a ticket to this event, you will also be giving to a good cause.

"In response to feedback from last year, we have included a donation of $3.00 from every ticket sold to the United Nations Women Australia supporting the Partners Improving Markets program. This program aims to improve the working conditions for women in the markets in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu," said Cr Dowman.

The luncheon will be held on Thursday 8 March, 12.00pm to 2.00pm, at Archie’s on the Creek, 81 Archie’s Creek Road, Archie’s Creek. Tickets are $43 per person and go on sale Monday, 20 February 2012.
