Tales From The Waterline Opens June 11 – Don’t Miss Out

Tales from the Waterline is a performance of readings and songs celebrating the history of Bass Coast’s Western Port region – from Jam Jerrup to Woolamai.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 27th May 2005 - Back to News

The show is a part of The Waterline Project, a Creatively Connecting Communities (CCC) initiative that aims to highlight the region’s greatest attributes: its history, environment, art and music.

CCC Project Facilitator, Gill Heal, says the performance celebrates the lives and stories of older residents from across the region, recalling their memories of early days of fishing, the first roads and Saturday nights at the local dance.

"The script contains moving stories of love, loss and resilience and long years of hard work as people strove to make a life for their families," said Ms Heal.

Alice Garner, whose previous work includes Sea Change and The Secret Life of Us, heads a strong cast of nine readers.

The show also comprises 10 original songs composed at a songwriting workshop in May.

Two performances will be held on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 of June at the Corinella Public Hall, beginning at 7.30pm.

To book tickets or for further information contact Council’s CCC Project Facilitator, Gill Heal, on (03) 5671 2211 or (03) 5951 3311.

Creatively Connecting Communities is a community-strengthening project funded by State Government and supported by Bass Coast Shire Council, which finishes on 30 June this year.
