Healthcare workforce development

Mr Cantwell said, "Healthcare plays such an important role in keeping Gippsland well and functioning, but is also a significant employer, providing career opportunities from nursing to physiotherapy, aged care to specialist surgeons, so it was great to discuss prevention, partnerships, and workforce development with Professor Wallace. Investing in education and innovative career pathways for Gippsland residents, and attracting new workers to the region, will help build our local health workforce and support service delivery."

"C4G remains committed to advocating for improved healthcare outcomes in Gippsland through a holistic approach that addresses the region's challenges and priorities, including employment, education, and the development of infrastructure and housing to support Gippsland's current and future population," Mr Cantwell said.

Regional health forum

C4G Chair Sean Dignum said that it was a key opportunity for health providers in the region to meet with Professor Wallace and discuss our local health sector, challenges and opportunities. "As a region, it was fantastic to bring together our health care sector together to explore shared challenges, discuss state government health policy and better understand the important work happening across the region in health service delivery."

"Whether you are providing healthcare in Orbost or Neerim South, ensuring the region is well placed with the workforce and trained professionals, with the infrastructure to support the delivery is important. The Committee for Gippsland looks forward to hosting future health forums with Professor Wallace and will continue to advocate to the state and federal government to improve regional health outcomes," Mr Dignum said.
