2001 Outstanding Institute Apprentice

Local hairdresser Bianca Appleton was presented with the 2001 Outstanding Institute Apprentice Award

Local hairdresser Bianca Appleton was presented with the 2001 Outstanding Institute Apprentice Award at the recent GippsTAFE Graduation Ceremony held in Morwell.

The 2001 Outstanding Institute Apprentice Award is granted to an Institute Apprentice who has demonstrated an outstanding level of performance including industry knowledge and skills, achievement of learning competencies, communication skills, interest in lifelong learning and personal goals.

Throughout her apprenticeship, Ms Appleton’s efforts were exemplary, her enthusiasm and commitment evident from early in her training.

Ms Appleton’s contribution and participation was beyond that expected of an apprentice at her level, which was reflected in her excellent results in both theory and practice.

Ms Appleton demonstrated her ability to develop new trends in all areas of the hairdressing industry and knowledge of current practices. She set a high personal standard of performance and preferred to practice her skills beyond what was required of the competencies before proceeding to new skills.

Ms Appleton’s communication skills enabled her to gain both the respect and friendship of her teachers and peers, an attribute important in the hairdressing industry.

Ms Appleton has been a leader by participating in many annual hair design competitions, winning many awards sections, often requiring significant time commitment and personal expense. Her involvement in these competitions also encouraged fellow students to participate, with Ms Appleton giving them advice and support.

Ms Appleton is currently working as a senior in her workplace and helps in the training of other apprentices.

She is also preparing for the World Skills Games in June and has a keen desire to travel overseas to learn more from renowned hairdressers.
