Council Chief Executive Officer, Mr Glenn Patterson said that Baw Baw was pleased to host the 32-member delegation for the day. "The delegation toured Baw Baw and some businesses in the region, to help them gain an understanding of the local industry," said Mr Patterson.

"The delegation has been at a training program at the University of Melbourne to introduce them to the Australian system of Government and operation," said Mr Patterson. "Whilst in Baw Baw the delegation visited a number of local businesses including tours of Visy and Pureharvest," said Mr Patterson.

The delegation is travelling to Canberra to learn about the Commonwealth Government before returning to China.

"It’s great for Council to create international relationships as both countries have a lot to learn about and from each other," stated Mr Patterson.

Guangdong Province is located in the southeast of China’s mainland where it occupies an area of 178,000 square kilometers. Its many islands add a further 1,600 square kilometers. Guangdong is rich in mineral resources and is a popular area for growing fruit.
