Lowanna College Unveils Upgraded Classrooms and Facilities

Bigger, flexible learning spaces and school facilities unveiled!

By Portal Admin - 22nd October 2018 - Back to News

Moe, Newborough, and Yallourn students now have bigger, flexible learning spaces and school facilities to learn in, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today visited Lowanna College to open its $500,000 upgrade, which includes transforming the existing spaces into open learning areas, a new staff room, and other works to improve amenity.

The school’s upgrade will mean teachers can deliver the 21st century education local students need to succeed.

The project is part of more than $3.8 billion invested in school infrastructure by the Government since 2014 to cater for the estimated 90,000 students who are expected to enter the school system over the next five years.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians, including Ducon Maintenance and local workers from Gippsland who have created the new Lowanna facilities.

The Andrews Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a great education.

Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing

"Across Victoria, we are building and upgrading schools so our students have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and students are given every chance to succeed."

"I share the passion and excitement of everyone who has worked so collaboratively to turn Lowanna College’s vision for open learning spaces into a reality, and I’m delighted that the new facilities will provide such positive learning opportunities for students now and into the future."
