Funding For Small Communities

Applications are now open for the latest round of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s Small Grants for Small Rural Communities funding program,

By Russell Northe - 28th January 2011 - Back to News

Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe said individual grants of up to $5000 are available under the program, which offers about $900,000 per year over two funding rounds, with priority given to communities with populations less than 10,000.

"Currently, preference is being given to projects which support community infrastructure; development of disadvantaged children or young people; the resettlement of immigrants in rural Australia; and communities in areas which have been exceptional circumstances or natural disaster declared," said Mr Northe.

"I highly encourage local not-for-profit organisations and communities to consider applying for funding under this program, supported by the William Buckland Foundation, Perpetual Trustees, the Pratt Foundation, Edward Wilson Trust and the Yulgilbar Foundation.

"Theatre groups, community and pipe bands, pre-schools, men’s sheds, fire brigades, play groups, community halls, sporting clubs, farmers markets, recreation reserves, Lions and Rotary Clubs, Scouts and Landcare groups are just some of the organisations to receive grants in the last funding round," Mr Northe said.

Applications close on March 31 2011 and application forms and guidelines are available from Mr Northe’s Electorate Office, 66 George Street Morwell or from the Foundation for Rural and regional Renewal on www.frrr.org.au, freecall 1800 170 020.
