Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve CommitteeReserve committee currently looking for new members to get involved. By Portal Admin - 8th January 2019 - Back to News Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve is one of Morwell’s hidden treasures. Tucked in behind Maryvale Private Hospital and the Latrobe City Sports Stadium, the Reserve is 43 hectares of beautiful remnant bushland, which is home to many native plants and animals, including large old Gum trees, orchids, tortoises, wallabies and bower birds.
But maintaining such a large patch of bushland doesn’t come easy. It is an on-going process. The Reserve is managed by a small but dedicated team of volunteers, supported by Latrobe City Council. The volunteers meet monthly to discuss and make decisions about on-going management issues such as weed control, protection of rare species, revegetation, track maintenance and signage. They also organise projects such as new track construction and the installing of nesting boxes for resident native birds and possums. The group is very active within the Reserve itself, undertaking weeding, mowing and tree planting on a regular basis.
The reserve committee is currently looking for enthusiastic new members to come along and get involved. Whether it’s as a regular monthly committee member, or just attending the occasional working bee, any involvement is welcome. Come along, make new friends, get your hands dirty and enjoy spending time in this stunning patch of natural bush, located right in the heart of Morwell.
