Wellington to host world-class equestrian Wellington Shire is pleased to support a top international equestrian event to be held at the Newry Recreation Reserve this Saturday, 26 July. By Wellington Shire Council - 21st July 2004 - Back to News The Category Equestrian International Two Star 118km Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Endurance Ride - The Dubai Cup – Victoria 2004, the sixth endurance event to be held in Newry. It boasts a field of leading, world-ranked riders who will complete four circuits of varying length on horse back to make-up the total distance.
The event gets underway at 6.00am on the day. Parking will be available close to the venue for spectators, while the track and surrounding areas will be kept a traffic-free zone.
Said Wellington Mayor Jeff Amos: "The council is delighted to support this prestigious event which is attracting international competitors and their teams to our shire. The event is a credit to the hard work and commitment of the organising committee, the Maffra SES who will man check points and the Newry CFA who will supply water at the event."
