Bass Coast Shire Council and EcoRecycle will hold a free household chemical collection on Saturday 26 October from 2-5pm at Council’s Cowes Depot, Dunsmore Road, Cowes.

"This is a great chance to have a spring clean of the garden shed or the laundry and get rid of those chemicals that you no longer need," said Peter Roberts, Waste Management Officer with Bass Coast Shire Council.

Peter said that there is a wide range of items people can dispose of on the day including fuels, oils and engine fluids, water and oil based paints, acids and alkalis such as swimming pool chemicals, gas cylinders, cleaning products, batteries and gardening chemicals.

"This is an opportunity to make your home safer by disposing of those chemicals you no longer use," said Peter.

For more information, contact Peter Roberts at Bass Coast Shire Council on (03) 5671 2211 or (03) 5951 3311.
