Tyers Soccer Club Room Upgrade On The Agenda

Tyers Soccer Club is set to receive a $20,000 club room upgrade if the Coalition is elected to Government on November 27, Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe announced today.

The funding will be used to upgrade the facilities for female players and referees, the canteen facilities, and improve storage and disability access.

Mr Northe said the upgrade was important to ensure local men and women continue to partake in regular activity, such as soccer.

"Our region has a strong soccer background, and it is imperative that our facilities are up to scratch, and cater for soccer players of all ages and genders.

"Women’s soccer is taking off in the Latrobe Valley, and it’s fantastic to see so many women’s teams involved in the league. For this reason we must ensure we have adequate facilities so our women are further encouraged to take part in this great sport."

Mr Northe said the upgrades will take place under the guidance of Latrobe City Council, and the $20,000 funding will further supplement funding already allocated towards this project.

"Without Government support many local projects fail to get off the ground, which is why I am pledging the $20,000 to the Tyers Soccer Club, so they too can benefit from major and necessary upgrades to their facilities without having to do a large amount of fundraising."

"Tyers is a fantastic part of our region, and I have been fortunate enough to visit the town on a number of occasions over these past four years. During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the concerns of the community, and at the same time meet some wonderful people.

"Our small towns are such an important part of our community, and it’s vitally important that they have full support to be able to continue to enhance and build into the future."
