Liberal Nationals Back Scouts and GuidesElected Liberal Nationals Government to support the rich tradition of Scouts and Guides. By Portal Admin - 11th November 2018 - Back to News The rich tradition of Scouts and Guides will be stronger than ever before under an elected Liberal Nationals Government.
Shadow Minister for Young Victorians Steph Ryan announced a massive boost to scouts and guides at the Scouts Victoria annual report and presentations night, which will increase participation and upgrade club facilities, like halls and campsites, across the state.
The package includes $1.5 million to establish a new Scouts in Schools Program in up to 20 schools across the state, so more young people can share in the benefits of our iconic scouts clubs.
Trainers will be employed at participating schools, leading activities during lunch breaks. Running the program through schools will remove the cost and time barriers which stop many willing children joining their local Scouts club.
A further $4 million for building and facility improvements will be available to local clubs through the Scouts and Guides Infrastructure Fund on a matching basis, providing for up to $8 million in upgrades at local clubs across the state.
Scouts and Guides manage an extensive property portfolio and with more and more young Victorians joining both organisations over the past decade, support is required to secure these facilities for future club members and make sure they’re meeting growing demand.
