Coping With Dry ConditionsDry and variable seasons are part of Australian farming. A long term plan to cope with dry seasons and droughts is a high priority for many sheep producers. By Department of Primary Industries - 5th August 2004 - Back to News A workshop ‘Decisions on Stock Made Easier’ has been organised by the Victorian Department of Primary Industries in conjunction with the NSW Department of Primary Industries to assist farmers manage through seasonal downturn and dry conditions.
The Gippsland Workshop is being held on Tuesday 17 August from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm at the TAFE CAMPUS – Sale.
The main aim of the workshop is to assist producers make management decisions that minimise the environmental and financial impacts of drought.
The day begins with participants sharing their experiences from previous dry seasons. Following this, the day is hands on the computer using the ‘StockPlan’ series of programs to help make the decision making easier.
Registration is essential, as each participant will be using a computer to help plan for the future. Please reply to Peter Stapleton at DPI Bairnsdale on 51 520615 by Thursday 12th August.
