Tyers Prepares for Art Show & Moondarra Fire Photo Exhibition Plans are on track for the Tyers Art Festival on 10th - 12th November. By Peter Harrison - 2nd November 2006 - Back to News The number of entries continues to grow, with over 500 works of art to feature this year. Works entered in the festival cover a range of media including Oil and Acrylic, Watercolours, Mixed media, Pastel, Photography and Designer Craft.
Peter Harrison, Principal of Tyers Primary School and spokesperson for the Tyers Art Festival Committee, said: ‘This is our 27th Year and the Festival keeps growing in size and stature. We have another record field of entries from artists around Victoria, with a number of artists entering the festival for the first time.’
Mr Harrison continued, ‘This year’s gala opening will also include the opening of the Tyers Beautification Works, dedication of the Tyers War Memorial and the opening of the DSE & CFA Moondarra Fire Photographic Exhibition and Display.’
Ticket sales for the Friday Gala Opening night are selling well, so art lovers will have to move quickly to gain a ticket. Exhibited works are available for purchase, and if art lovers don’t want to miss out getting in early is a must.
Local businesses have continued to support the festival, recognising that it is one of the top events on the Gippsland Arts Calendar and a great way to promote Tyers Primary School.
‘Tyers Primary School is a focal point for this community, so we are really pleased with the great response from the Latrobe Valley community. It is terrific to get such strong support from businesses, parents and of course the artists.’ said Mr Harrison.
Mr Harrison concluded: ‘This Festival demonstrates that the Tyers community continues to work together to achieve great things for our school and our town.’
