Omeo To Become Scene Of A Revenge-Based BloodbathThe town of Omeo is set to become the scene of a revenge-based bloodbath but East Gippsland Shire says that locals should not be alarmed. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 13th May 2009 - Back to News The town has been selected as the location for a new 90 minute feature film "Red Hill" that has been written and which will be directed by the award winning filmmaker Patrick Hughes.
For the movie that will be shot over July and August and released internationally, Omeo will be renamed "Red Hill."
The film will tell the story of a young Melbourne police officer, Constable Shane Cooper who relocates to the small high country town with his pregnant wife in the hope of starting a new family.
However, news of a prison break in Melbourne sends the local law enforcement officers into a panic and, according to Patrick Hughes, the young Constable’s first day on duty goes from bad to worse when convicted murderer Jimmy Conway, serving life behind bars, returns to the town seeking revenge.
"Now caught in the middle of what quickly becomes a horrifying blood bath, Cooper will be forced to take the law into his own hands if he is to survive," Hughes said.
"What follows unfolds over the course of a single day and the story is told with explosive action and chilling violence."
