Road Renewal Works To Start In Wonthaggi

Henry Street West and part of Reed Crescent near the rifle range entrance in Wonthaggi are undergoing renewal and stabilising works as part of Bass Coast Shire Council’s capital works program.

By Bass Coast - 16th May 2011 - Back to News

Council’s Acting Infrastructure Projects Manager, Derek Peters, said the renewal works were needed to make sure the sections of road could still be used safely.

"Renewal works are done when a road has reached the end of its lifespan. Spending money on renewing a road will save maintenance costs in the future," said Mr Peters.

"Works in Henry Street West include removing part of the road, stabilising underneath it and laying new pavement.

"The work in Reed Crescent, between 149 and 169 includes stabilising the existing section of road and resheeting.

"We will try to minimise the disruption to residents, but all drivers are reminded to be careful driving through roadworks.

"Local property and emergency access will be maintained at all times," continued Mr Peters.

Work on both roads is expected to be completed by early next week, depending on weather conditions.
