Sign Up Now For ‘Grow Me The Money’ Business ProgramAdopting sustainable business practices doesn’t just mean a healthier planet; it also means a healthier bottom line. By Latrobe City Council - 11th December 2009 - Back to News But how do you access information on how to become more sustainable? ‘Grow Me the Money’, an online business program supported by VECCI (Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and the EPA Victoria (Environmental Protection Authority), encourages local small to medium enterprise owners to think about the way they use energy and water resources and to facilitate change towards more sustainable practices.
Latrobe City’s coordinator business development, Donna Starkey, said that the program delivered a twelve step plan to encourage proprietors to really think about the way their business operates.
"The twelve step plan takes business owners through reviewing their current sustainable practices, recording their energy use for the previous twelve month period, developing and then implementing an action plan to make changes, meeting with a business support officer and then exploring options to purchase sustainable products.
"The program shows businesses how to use fewer resources, generate less waste and ultimately save money. Businesses will receive ongoing support through the twelve months of the program, access to tools to establish sustainable practices, certification, reports and the ability to reduce their carbon footprint," Ms Starkey said.
"As an incentive to sign up to the next twelve month program, the first five Latrobe City businesses that register before 25 December 2009 and quote ‘Green 10’ will receive a Grow Me the Money Total Care package valued at $348, for free.
"This program offers the chance to network with other business people who have either been through the program, or are about to undertake it. The support from those on the ‘Grow Me the Money’ team is just as important, and the end result is a win-win situation for the environment and the business profit," Ms Starkey concluded.
