Ali Wastie has tenure extended as Bass Coast Shire Council CEO until 17 February 2028

Bass Coast Shire Council CEO Ali Wastie will continue in the top job, with her contract formally extended for a further five years this week.

Bass Coast Shire Councillors have endorsed Ms Wastie's continuation in the position, which sees her contract extended until 17 February 2028. Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan said that Ms Wastie is an in-demand executive. "This is shown by the Minister appointing her as the Chair of Alpine Resorts Victoria recently. This appointment has occurred because of the excellent job she has done here in Bass Coast."

Working with the council

Cr Whelan said, "The synergies between the roles are strong and these outside links bring with them incredible access. Ms Wastie's renewed five-year contract gives stability to Bass Coast and for the many projects we have underway." Some of the highlights during Ms Wastie's time at Bass Coast so far include working with an outstanding council (over two terms) to deliver great community outcomes.

"This has included endorsing our largest ever Capital Works Program, as well as a suite of initiatives such as our Climate Change Action Plan 2020-2030, that will lead council and community to net zero emissions by 2030."

"Another highlight has been steering the organisation and community through the COVID-19 pandemic by developing strong partnerships with all levels of government, industry, community leaders and organisations." Ms Wastie said.

Providing services to community

Ms Wastie said, "I am proud of the high-performing organisation we are building, that is recognised on a national scale as an employer of choice and a place that attracts and retains top talent. Of particular note are our landmark gender equality decisions that deliver benefit to the organisation and broader community."

Ms Wastie also said that she is thrilled to continue to serve Bass Coast Shire Council as Chief Executive Officer and lead a highly capable and passionate organisation. "Bass Coast is a very special place that has its natural environment and communities at its heart. It is a privilege and honour to work alongside a progressive council who is committed to making Bass Coast the best it can be."

"I look forward to progressing an ambitious Capital Works Program, our focus on our customers and providing services that respond to our growing communities' needs and aspirations," Ms Wastie concluded.
