Department and CFA fire crews are continuing a valiant effort to control the Razorback fire 26kms north west of Benambra. Weather conditions have meant slow progress on backburning operations last night and today.

The Incident Management Team at Swifts Creek are planning to consolidate control lines, particularly in the southern sector of the fire towards the Glen Wills and Glen Valley area. At the same time, they are developing strategies to deal with any situation that arises should the fire jump these control lines.

Incident Controller Ben Rankin said that good planning has kept everyone on top of the situation and there have been some successful lines of control established.

"We’re now re-evaluating backburning plans as the weather warms up and increasing our deployment of personnel to the northern sector of the fire," he said.

Community notice boards have been established at Benambra, Omeo and Anglers Rest (Blue Duck Hotel), Residents are encouraged to check their notice boards for maps and information updates and to remain vigilant and prepared should the fire situation change.
