Call For Nominations For Commonwealth Sport Achievement AwardHave you made an outstanding contribution to sport? By Jo McMillan - 18th October 2002 - Back to News Federal Member for McMillan Christian Zahra has urged local sporting groups and individuals to nominate any local person, team or organisation they believe has made an outstanding contribution to sport for a Commonwealth Sport Achievement Award.
The new Commonwealth Sport Achievement Awards are a way for the Commonwealth Parliament to recognise and celebrate outstanding sporting performances, achievements and contributions by members of our local community.
Nominations should be made to Mr Zahra’s office and must include information that addresses the following selection criteria:
- For recognition of individual or team achievement, such as national or state team selection, regional/state/national competition success, or high-level single performance (such as Australian or state record);
- For recognition of community sport contribution by individuals, including coaches, referees/umpires and administrators with a minimum of 5 years’ service; or
- For recognition of contribution to sport by schools, community groups, or media organisations to a particular sporting event, facility or for continuous support over a minimum of 2 years.
