Information Technology Online Program To Target B2B Priorities

Further grants available for the take up of e-business by Australian companies

By David Quilty - 15th October 2002 - Back to News

The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Richard Alston, has announced the 9th round of a grants program aimed at encouraging the take up of e-business by small to medium sized companies in Australia.

Round nine of the Government’s Information Technology Online (ITOL) Program will award grants to projects which offer significant potential to encourage the adoption of e-business in SMEs.

Since its inception, the ITOL program has supported over 80 collaborative projects in a wide range of industry sectors that have accelerated the adoption of e-business in Australia.

In recent ITOL funding rounds, these industry solutions have demonstrated high levels of innovation and reflected emerging e-commerce applications. These include e-marketplaces, wireless applications, value chains, introduction of industry standards and the promotion of interoperable solutions. Many of the successful applications share a high level of collaboration between businesses.

The ITOL program is a competitive grant program administered by the National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE). A large number of applications are expected for this round. For this reason, all applicants should provide evidence of strong consortium involvement in the project they seek a grant for. Evidence should also be provided that projects are sustainable in the longer term.

Details of the program can be found at www.noie.gov.au/itol. Applications close at 5pm on Monday 9 December 2002.
