Just Check For The SignsAs part of the final phase of Cowes’ Thompson Avenue redevelopment, Council has started to erect parking regulation signs. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 3rd September 2001 - Back to News As part of the final phase of Cowes’ Thompson Avenue redevelopment, Council has started to erect parking regulation signs.
Motorists should take note of the length of time they are allowed to park in any one area. A majority of the parking spaces along Thompson Avenue are one hour parking spots.
"While Council’s local laws officers will be patrolling the area as per usual, we will be lenient with drivers parked in areas where signage has been recently erected," said Kaye Hall, Council’s Senior Local Laws Officer.
"We understand that people will need some time to become aware of and used to the regulations now that Thompson Avenue’s construction phase is coming to a close."
Kaye explained that the parking regulations ensure that an optimum number of people have the opportunity to use the area.
Council has budgeted for stage one of the Cowes off street car park construction between Bass Avenue and Thompson Avenue in its 2001-2002 budget.
