Latrobe City’s coordinator business development, Donna Starkey, said that the Industry Capability Network (ICN), in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is calling for submissions of expressions of interest for Australia's participation at the Expo.
"Local businesses in the areas of operational equipment and furniture; VIP functions, food, beverage and retail products should think about submitting an expression of interest.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase their Australian made goods or services to the world. The Expo takes place from 1 May to 31 October 2010 and will bring together over 170 nations, with over 40 international organisations participating. Visitor numbers are expected to exceed 70 million.
"The theme for Australia’s pavilion will be ‘Better City, Better Life,’ which will aim to promote Australia’s strong and vibrant economy, commitment to sustainable development, technological expertise and innovation. If a local business thinks their product or service fits the bill, we would urge them to consider a submission for this exciting international opportunity," Ms Starkey said.
