As part of National Youth Week celebrations, a free event for local youth will be held from 7pm. The event will feature local bands Under the Covers and Elsewhere. Taryne Fletcher, part of Moe-based Flake will perform solo on the night. The event is State Government funded and will be drug and alcohol-free. Sponsors include Latrobe Community Health, Foodworks, and Monash University Gippsland Student Union. The event is co-ordinated by the Glendonald Residents Group, with the help of students from the Gippsland Education Precinct. Free transport from surrounding towns will also be provided on the night. ‘Possible Worlds’ will open at the University’s Switchback Gallery on April 17. The exhibition will feature paintings by Robin Kingston and drawings by Brett D’Costa. The exhibition will remain open until May 11.
Making the Grade Business Lecturer Melanie Bryant has been named the Highly Commended Winner at the Emerald Literature Network Awards for Excellence 2007. She won the award for her paper, ‘Talking about change: Understanding employee responses through qualitative research’ which was published in journal, Management Decision. This paper was written for a special issue of Management Decision which explored how managers can use qualitative methods (such as interviews and observations of their staff) to help them gain a more thorough understanding of organisations.
