MS Readathon:
Morwell Park Primary School has advised Carmen, that any student from the school asking for donations to the Readathon will have a written authority from the school. If you are approached by anyone about donating to this charity, ask to see the authority before you donate any money.
Police Patrol:
While on a foot patrol in our area one night recently, a plain clothes officer was offered drugs for sale. The drug pusher was arrested and will now be out of circulation for some time.
During the month of July sixteen offenders were caught and charged for committing crimes in our NHW area. Some of these offenders were apprehended with the help of information provided by the residents. One of the offenders who had been responsible for a number of crimes on the Bridle Estate, has been charged, and is now in custody awaiting trial. Bail was refused. Residents are encouraged to keep reporting any suspicious incidents or anti-social behaviour to the police immediately by dialling 000 (triple zero).
Child Safety:
Recently a young child was injured when a TV set mounted on a chest of drawers toppled over on top of him, fracturing his leg. The accident happened when the child tugged on a drawer handle, the chest rocked, causing the TV set to fall.
Some free standing stoves can be unstable when the oven door is pulled down in the open position. The stove can tip forward allowing saucepans of hot food on the stove to spill on the floor. Stoves with this problem are supplied with a bracket by the manufacturer to secure it to the wall, to prevent this accident happening. Check to see if your stove has this problem.
Graffiti:
Graffiti is the defacing of public and private property by people who show little respect for others. A large amount of money is spent every year by Local Government and Private Citizens to remove it.
Anyone observing graffiti being written or any suspicious person carrying a spray can is asked to contact the Police without delay by dialling 000.

Theft From Cars:
A number of thefts are occurring from unlocked cars parked in driveways and front lawns. Vehicle owners can help to prevent this crime by locking their cars and not leaving anything of value in the car where the criminal can see it. The items usually stolen are money and mobile phones. Articles left in the tray of a Ute are particularly vulnerable to theft.
Try to park your vehicle as far off the street as possible, preferably in a lit area, or park behind locked gates.
