These are Chisholm TAFE Community Open Day between 11.00am and 2.00pm and The YMCA Children’s Expo and Fun Day between 10.00am and 1.00 pm.

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Community Strengthening Manager, Antoinette Mitchell, said the Festival presents plenty of free family activities.

"The TAFE will host a musical feast for all with Police Band, Code 1, playing at 1.00pm and the popular Luigi Zucchini is coming along again this year to entertain us.

"There is also a mix of activities at the Wonthaggi YMCA, with face painting and stage entertainment including musical items from Newhaven Primary School children, "said Mrs Mitchell.

Mrs Mitchell reminded people to bring their swimming gear to make the most of free swimming pool entry and the giant pool inflatable, at the YMCA between 1.00pm and 3.00pm. "There will also be a mixture of commercial and community groups supplying samples of their products and services at the YMCA.

"If you can’t make the Festival day, there will be Come and Try sessions at selected sports and recreational clubs throughout October," Mrs Mitchell said.

Mrs Mitchell acknowledged the contribution to the Festival from several local organisations and retailers, which provides for so many free activities.

The Chisholm TAFE Community Open Day is located at the Bass Coast campus on the corner of South Dudley Road and White Road, Wonthaggi. The YMCA Children’s Expo and Fun Day, is at the Recreation Reserve, Wentworth Road, Wonthaggi.

Bass Coast Children’s Festival is part of Children’s Week, a nationwide event which is celebrated from 22 to 30 October 2011.
