Fire In Forest North Of Walhalla

DSE and CFA firefighters have just been alerted to another fire, five kilometres north of Walhalla at Cricket Ground Track.

By DSE - 4th October 2006 - Back to News

The fire is currently three hectares in size and 12 personnel, with three tankers and two slip-on units are attending.

DSE Incident Controller, Geoff Kennedy said that this is another reminder for everyone to be vigilant about fires this season.

"It’s only the beginning of October and DSE has already attended to a number of fires across the region," Mr Kennedy said.

"This is an indication of just how dry the forest is and how careful we must all be as we head into another fire season."

"We are urging people to take extra care and be extra vigilant about any fires lit for any purpose near forest and park areas."

The cause of this fire is under investigation by DSE and the police.
