Staff at the Gippsland Campus Library are currently working with the Centre for Gippsland Studies to digitise the Centre’s collection of historical images to make them available on the web. The pictures depict life in Gippsland from the early 1900’s including images of rural life, road construction, historic buildings, monuments, people, places and events as well as an extensive documented history of Yallourn and the power industry in the Latrobe Valley. Many pictures being scanned are fragile, and once the collection is available on the web, the photographs can be used by local historians, students, researchers and genealogists. The web collection is expected to be launched later in the year.

"Eavesdropping" is the title of the next free lunchtime concert to be performed by Rae Howel (composer, piano, vibraphone), Karen Heath (clarinet), Luke Richardson (double bass) and Hayley Mueller-Shepard (harp) which will bring contemporary sounds of a classical music ensemble to the Gippsland Campus on August 24 at 1pm in the Hexagon.

The Gippsland Campus held a ‘Snow Photo Competition’ for the best photo captured during the snowfalls at the Campus last Wednesday. The winner, Glen Waterhouse from GREEN Inc received a $30 Mid Valley voucher. The winning photo and runners up can be seen on the Gippsland Campus homepage.
