Free Music Industry Career Workshops

FReeZACentral is hosting free training days for those aged 15 to 25 interested in a music industry career.

FReeZACentral is hosting free, accredited training days around Victoria for young people aged 15 to 25 who are interested in a music industry career. The all-day workshops will be held in Footscray, Ballarat, Brunswick, Morwell, Frankston, Mildura, Geelong, Shepparton and Melbourne CBD.

FReeZACentral Workshop Dates 2006:

Saturday June 17 – Footscray Victoria University             

Tuesday June 20 – Ballarat Mining Exchange
Friday June 23 – Brunswick Town Hall                                        

 Wednesday June 28 – Morwell GippsTAFE
Saturday July 1 – Frankston South Recreation Centre                  

Wednesday July 5 – Mildura St Joseph’s College
Saturday July 8 – Geelong Courthouse Youth Arts Centre

Tuesday July 11 – Shepparton Cutting Edge Uniting Care
Saturday July 15 – Victoria Uni, Level 9/300 Flinders St, City * (includes specialised dance/hip hop industry workshops)

Workshop Presenters:

Choose a stream from performance, technical, event management, marketing or music business operations:

Performance: Andrew Kitchen (Antiskeptic) - lead singer & songwriter for popular all-ages rock band

Technical: Sally Laver (Pan Studios, Geelong) - regional venue booker and festival production manager

Technical: Daniel Simmons (Pan Studios) - studio engineer, live sound engineer, member of The Suits

Marketing: Natalie Crupi (Oh Traveller Publicity) - publicist for Push Over, Meredith Music Festival, Next Wave

Event Management: Wally Kempton (Cheersquad) - booking agent, artist manager, tour manager, musician

Music Business: Adrian Marchasani (Standard Records) - 18 years experience in labels and publishing

Music Business: Rachel Crossthwaite (Victoria University) - Music Industry Lecturer, ex Premier Artists

Mentoring Program:

Of the 500 participants expected to attend the workshops, 50 young people in the 18-25 age group will be selected to join the FReeZACentral Mentoring Program. All mentorees receive one-on-one career guidance from industry professionals in their chosen field of event management, marketing and promotion, technical, performance and music business operations. Mentorees also gain hands-on industry experience by helping to organise and run a statewide tour and recording project.

FReeZACentral is funded by the Department for Victorian Communities and managed by The Push and Mushroom Marketing.  FReeZACentral is supported by Victoria University and the Council of Victorian YMCAs.
