A Night Of Dark Carnival At The GalleryA gala extravaganza will be held on Friday 27 April at 6.30pm for the Latrobe Regional Gallery’s latest exhibition ‘Elegance and Perversity’ by Dutch artist Erwin Olaf. By Latrobe City - 24th April 2007 - Back to News Gallery Director, Jacqui Hemsley said that the gala is being organised by the 2007 Young Ambassadors and will feature fire twirlers, heavy metal rock band, soundscapes and even a bizarre acrobatic display.
"Guests are encouraged to dress up in the theme of ‘Dark Carnival’ with a gift for best costume up for grabs. Over $400 worth of bizarre and unique door prizes will also be on offer.
"The exhibition ‘Erwin Olaf: Elegance and Perversity’ will push the boundaries for some people and challenge perceptions. In acknowledging that this exhibition will not suit everyone’s taste and that some imagery may offend those attending will need to be 15 years of age or over," Ms Hemsley said.
"This will be no ordinary opening. Friday will be all about decadence and promises to be a great and very different experience. It is certainly an event not to be missed and is guaranteed to thrill," Ms Hemsley concluded.
Entry is by donation with all proceeds going towards new acquisitions for the collection.
‘Erwin Olaf: Elegance and Perversity’ will run until Sunday 10 June.
