Arts Round The ShireIf you’re looking for an arts or cultural experience this holiday season then Bass Coast is the place to visit. By Bass Coast - 15th December 2010 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council’s Arts Officer, Josephine Kent, said there are plenty of opportunities to be inspired by the arts this summer.
"There are exhibitions, markets, festivals, workshops, music events, galleries and studios." said Ms Kent.
"We now have the 2011 ARTS brochure available which is a 24 page guide to all styles of arts.
"With it you can plan your trip visiting museums, galleries and studios and you may even see the artist at work."
"It also has information about how to join a dance, visual arts, singing, and writing groups," continued Ms Kent.
The brochure has information about Council’s Art Acquisition program, which gives visual artists an opportunity to exhibit in the Bass Coast Art Acquisition Exhibition in September each year.
"At this exhibition one painting will be selected by an independent judge to become part of Council’s art collection," explained Ms Kent.
"The prize is worth $5,000 and all artists invited to exhibit will also receive prize money.
"To be in the running for this prize you must be chosen by a judge at one of the five registered art shows.
"You can pick up a free brochure at Council’s Customer Service Centres, Visitor Information Centres, at participating businesses or at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au.
"Another great place to find out what is happening in your area is the events calendar on our website and the local papers for all musical and film experiences."
