For Sale by Tender:
The Neighbourhood Watch photocopier is now no longer needed, and is being put up for sale.
The copier is a Miti model DC 2360 and has printed 704,000 copies. It has three paper drawers which take all sizes of paper up to A3. One drawer is a duplex which allows copying to both sides of the paper. This copier is 41/2 years old and has been regularly serviced by the local agent. An operator’s manual comes with the copier.
Interested parties can inspect the copier by contacting Sen. Const. Brendan Clifford at Police Headquarters on 5132 2155.
Property Damage:
There have been several recent acts of property damage and burglary at the secondary school in Bridle Road. Residents are once again asked to keep a lookout for any suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of the school, and report it to the police immediately. Dial the emergency number 000 (triple zero). All damage done to the school by vandals has to be repaired at taxpayer’s expense. You and Me.
During the recent property marking campaign "Mark It In March" Over 900 items were marked with the help of Neighbourhood Watch in this division.
When You Rent:
Many thieves rent the house they live in, and when obtaining the keys to a new house, immediately cut another spare set. When it comes time to vacate, they hand the original keys back to the landlord and still have a set of keys to a house that will soon be occupied by someone else. Easy access!! When renting a house, change the locks and upon leaving, replace them with the originals. (You can then re-use them in the next house.) That way you have the only set of keys to your house - a small price for peace of mind.
Crime Stoppers, the community crime fighting program, has celebrated its 15th anniversary. Crime Stoppers was introduced to Australia on 11th of November 1987. Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon praised the community for taking a stand against crime, and, in turn contributing to the success of Crime Stoppers. "Crime affects all of us, and it is in everyone’s best interest to report any suspicious behaviour or information on crimes to police".
Figures show that information provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers Victoria since its inception have led to:
· 5,900 people arrested
· Over 26,000 charges laid
· Over $14,000,000 worth of property recovered
· Over $63,000,000 in drugs recovered
"The figures are remarkable and clearly illustrate that people are prepared to give information related to criminal activity", said Commissioner Nixon.
Anyone with information about a crime should call, Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
