This session, to be held on Wednesday, May 10 at Monash University Gippsland Campus from 12pm-4pm, is part of the Innovation Festival.
Resisting the Aboriginal Welfare Board’s ‘Morwell Village Haven’: Reflections on Assimilation, Collective Rights and Private Property’ will be presented by Meredith Fletcher and Janice Chesters, at the School of Humanities Communications and Social Sciences Research Forum on Thursday, May 11. Peter Kershaw, Chief Ranger from Parks Victoria will be speaking at the environmental management seminar at the Gippsland Campus on Thursday, May 11. Mr. Kershaw will be discussing based upon his own vast experiences, the complex and demanding role of a career in managing parks and reserves.
The Gippsland Campus will be holding their free lunchtime concert series again in 2006. Concerts include musical performances by outstanding students and staff of the • Making the Grade A model developed as part of a research project by a Monash postgraduate student will enable Wellington Shire Council to work more closely with communities. Glenys Butler works for Wellington Shire Council and her research showed the need to establish a model that would support and encourage communities to work together and address local issues. John Thwaites, Minister for Victorian Communities provided a $310,000 grant that will enable Wellington Shire Council to employ two community facilitators for 3 years to assist with the implementation of the model in approximately 22 communities across the shire. The Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Education (primary and secondary) double degrees have been approved by the University and will be in the VTAC guide for prospective students to enrol in 2007.
