Northe Takes The Reins At Churchill North PsWhilst the thought might strike fear in the hearts of his former teachers, Morwell MLA Russell Northe proudly took part in the ACER Principal for a Day program today at Churchill North PS. By Russell Northe - 26th August 2009 - Back to News Taken under the wing of principal Debbie Edwards, Mr Northe interacted with staff and students in the classrooms, attended a peer coaching debrief and planning meeting, carried out yard supervision duties, observed a student-teacher instructional leadership session, prepared an article for the school newsletter and facilitated a parent meeting for a new enrolment.
"Staff and students at Churchill North Primary School work together to create a wonderful learning environment and it was indeed an honour to act as principal for a day at the school," Mr Northe said.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience first hand just how rewarding and at times challenging, a career in the education sector can be.
"Local principals, teachers, aides and support staff do a magnificent job in providing positive learning experiences for our children.
"Their commitment of both time and energy, and passion for what they are setting out to achieve with our kids should serve as an inspiration to us all, no matter what our chosen vocation," the Member for Morwell said.
"I thank the Churchill North Primary School community and in particular Mrs Edwards for giving me an insight into life at their school."
Mr Northe encouraged local business and community leaders to sign up for the 2010 Principal for a Day program. Information is available at www.acer.edu.au/pfad.
