The Merry Widow Waltzes Into MoeOn Wednesday 12 September, Jane O’Toole will star in the queen of operettas ’The Merry Widow’ at the Moe Town Hall from 11am. By Latrobe City - 29th August 2007 - Back to News Latrobe’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that the melodies and songs in this popular musical are known the world over, making it one of the most successful shows of its kind ever written.
"Following on from the huge success of ‘A Waltz through Vienna’ Jane O’Toole and her incredible supporting cast will transport the audience to Paris and reminisce all the highlights of this wonderful production.
Ms Roberts said that ‘The Merry Widow’ follows the story of Anna, a rich widow, and the efforts of Baron Zeta to marry her off to prevent his country going into bankruptcy.
"A comedy of matchmaking, romance and confusion ensues, along with many memorable songs such as ‘Velia’, ‘Love Unspoken’ and ‘You’ll find me at Maxim’s’," Ms Roberts explained.
As well as the beautiful voice of Jane O’Toole, the cast also features Raymond Khong as Danilo, Matthew Davine as Camille and Jane McGeorge as Valencienne. The production has been musically directed by May Gavin.
"Audiences will be thrilled as the cast sing and dance their way through this production. It will be an unforgettable morning," Ms Roberts concluded.
