Students are expected to receive their first round offers on Tuesday, January 18. Letters were mailed to students on Monday, January 17. They are also able to find out the status of their offers on-line, by telephone or by SMS. Students who receive an offer will enrol at Monash University during the week of January 24. Monash University Gippsland Campus is anticipating continued overall growth in campus enrolments.
• Making the Grade
Assoc. Professor Harry Ballis and Ms. Zofia Pawlaczek have been named to the executive management team of Monash University Gippsland Campus. Assoc. Prof. Ballis has been named Deputy to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Ms. Pawlaczek is the Director of Teaching. In order for Monash University Gippsland to be fully responsive to education and research opportunities presented locally, it has been agreed by the University that the Campus will have greater autonomy from 2005 under the direction of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Mackenzie. From 2006, the Pro Vice-Chancellor will have a clear line management, budgetary and overall campus academic direction responsibility. A further two Director positions are expected to be filled in the future.
Four students received Gippsland Internships through the Monash University Gippsland Internship Program 2005. The students, Michael Woodbridge (Trafalgar High School), Matthew Dunn (Marist-Sion College), Kassie Dear (Trafalgar High School) and Jason Howlett (Yarram Secondary College) will be working for International Power Hazelwood, Latrobe City Council, SGS Environmental Services and Vic Roads. The program links high-achieving VCE students with local employers to give students work experience and rewarding employment and at the same time keeping high-achievers in Gippsland. Local businesses sponsoring students for the 2005 Internships Program are Australian Securities & Investments Commission, Australian Sustainable Industry Research Centre, Bass Coast Shire Council, Energy Brix Australia, GHD, Gippsland Water, Hydro Australia, Latrobe City Council, Latrobe Personnel, MECU, Sage Technology, Wellington Shire Council, Vic Roads, SGS Environmental Services & International Power Hazelwood.

Cheryl Cook, Manager, Monash International at the Gippsland Campus will be taking part in the 2005 Gippsland Leadership Program.
