Libraries After Dark
Pilot program that provides opportunities for social interaction and activities within the community that are an alternative to afterhours gambling venues.
Latrobe City’s Frank Bartlett Memorial Library has been selected by the State Government as one of four successful applicants for a two year grant as part of the state’s Libraries After Dark program.
The Libraries After Dark program is funded through the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation and is a pilot program that provides opportunities for social interaction and activities within the community that are an alternative to afterhours gambling venues.
Using library facilities to maximise our commitment to social inclusion is a key focus of both the Council Plan and the Library Plan, while providing a positive and safe environment for community members who otherwise may attend gambling venues.
The Moe Library (Frank Bartlett Memorial Library and Moe Service Centre) will extend opening hours in the future. We will work with the community to determine the type of recreational activities and entertainment required.
The funding was recently announced by the Hon. Marlene Kairouz, the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gambling and Liquor Regulation. Latrobe City is grateful for the ongoing funding support from the State Government.
