Zero Waste Week 25 Oct – 31 Oct By EcoRecycle Victoria - 21st October 2004 - Back to News Coordinated by EcoRecycle Victoria and Regional Waste Management Groups, Zero Waste Week celebrates Victoria's commitment to sustainability by showcasing the achievements of businesses, students, government and the local community in avoiding and reducing waste.
"Recycle Everywhere" is the theme for Zero Waste Week in 2004
Victorians are great home recyclers One year of Victorian household recycling saves: 8,360 megalitres of water 290, 000 tonnes of greenhouse gases air pollution equivalent to emissions from Victorian motorists travelling over 406 million kilometres a year in average post 1985 passenger cars.
….But we can make more of a difference by "recycling everywhere"
At Home - give your recycling bin a health check. Are you recycling everything you could? In the City - look out for recycling bins. The Melbourne Zoo, Federation Square and the Botanic Gardens all have facilities available. In the Office - ask about recycling at your place of work. Did you know that only 17% of office paper is recycled in Victoria? At Events - keep an eye out next time you go to a show, sporting match or festival. More and more events across Victoria are providing recycling facilities.
