Golden Plate Winners ShineWinners of the third annual Bass Coast Shire Golden Plate Awards were announced at a special event in Cowes on Monday 7 November at 6pm. By Bass Coast Shire - 14th November 2005 - Back to News Voting by members of the public took place between 10 September and 10 October, a period covering normal and holiday trading conditions.
"We had an increase of 1200 votes this year," said Bass Coast Shire Council’s Economic Development Project Officer, Roslyn Jenzen. "This certainly shows increased community interest in the Awards."
"Some old favourites were joined in the winning circle this year by some excellent newcomers," said Ms Jenzen.
The Winners and Runners Up in the four categories were presented with a Golden Plate Award Certificate and decal for their window.
And the Awards go to:

Celebrating local produce
Local Wine and Produce displays at the Cowes Cultural Centre added to the atmosphere of the presentations.
"The idea of the event was to celebrate the wonderful food and wine available within our region," said Ms Jenzen.
"As well as giving local producers the chance to showcase their produce, it gave the local venues an opportunity to source local produce for their businesses."
Harry’s On The Esplanade took the Best Restaurant honours for the third consecutive year.
"The change in location, from 115 Thompson Avenue to The Esplanade in Cowes didn’t alter this restaurant’s popularity or its consistently good food and service," said Ms Jenzen.
Mario’s Bistro maintained its hold on the top position in the Hotel Dining Category. The Albatross Lounge in Cowes also celebrated its second win in the Best Café category.
Ms Jenzen confirmed that following today’s announcements, all participating establishments would receive the comments from the diner feedback forms for their own assessment.
