Speed Limits Reduced

Drivers need to be aware that the speed limit along roads used for hauling construction materials for the pipeline and power for the desalination project has been reduced from 100km/hr to 80km/hr.

Bass Coast Shire Council Acting Infrastructure Director, Felicity Sist, said that reducing the speed limit along these roads will mean the risks associated with increased and heavy traffic are also reduced.

"We requested VicRoads look into the speed limit reduction and are pleased that it has been approved," said Ms Sist.

"This is to improve safety for all road users"

Reduced speed limits apply on the following roads

• Almurta-Glen Forbes Rd
• Bass Rd
• Dalyston - Glen Forbes Rd
• Eden Rd
• Grantville - Glen Alvie Road (part)
• Gurdies-St. Helier Rd
• McGraths Rd
• Stewart Road
• The Shuntoff
• Trew Rd
• Turnbull - Woolamai Rd
• Woolamai Rd

"When the pipeline and power works are finished, VicRoads will then assess whether the speed limits should be returned back to 100km/hr," explained Ms Sist.
