Cape Paterson seawall renewalReconstruction upgrades and rerouting the traffic and pedestrians for safety measures. By news@gippsland - 21st April 2021 - Back to News Work is set to begin to renew the seawall at Cape Paterson, which will include the construction of new beach access stairs. This $245,000 project is being fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council’s 2020/21 Capital Works Program. Construction works will start the week of 26 April 2021 and completion is anticipated within eight weeks, subject to favourable weather, tides and contractor availability.
Hut View and the boat ramp in Cape Paterson will be closed to the public, while seawall works are underway, due to the large amount of truck and excavator movements
Temporary road service access
For safety reasons, while these works are underway, Hut View and the boat ramp in Cape Paterson will be closed to the public, due to the large amount of truck and excavator movements. As always, emergency service access will be provided and appropriate traffic/pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works.
Better seawall for public safety
This project is necessary as the existing bluestone masonry retaining wall is in a very poor condition. The new seawall will offer additional protection from wave erosion to assets, including the nearby access road and will also improve public safety and amenity in this area. Works will also include the construction of a new beach access path, to divert pedestrians away from boat ramp traffic.

Council appreciates that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby properties and asks for their patience during these times. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
