Making the Grade

As young male athletes try to emulate today’s Australian Olympic heroes, it’s imperative that parents and coaches keep a close eye on their nutrition. According to research by Education Lecturer, Zofia Powlaczek at the Gippsland Campus young males are able to mask unhealthy eating attitudes by over training to make up for indulgences in food and alcohol. However, over training often increases the risk of injury and allows them to continue over indulging until it can become a much more serious problem. Ms Pawlaczek has won an award at one of the International Conferences for Olympic Sport for her research.
